VIP Dinner – Doubletree Hotel, Greenway Plaza
The festival kicks off on Friday January 29 with an elegant VIP dinner and live entertainment in the Plaza Room atop the Doubletree Hotel in Greenway Plaza at 6:30PM for cocktails and dinner at 7:30PM. The evening will feature a seated dinner and live music featuring Paul English Jazz Quartet and local vocalist April Sloan-Hubert.
Live Entetainment and Dinner: $125 per person includes a seated dinner with a choice of steak or salmon. Cash Bar.
Jazz Festival Performances – Saturday, January 30th
“The Inner Voices Workshop: A Jazz Piano and Composition Master Class with Peggy Stern”
Saturday, January 30 @ 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (Chapel)
Class is free and is open to anyone interested
Peggy Stern is as well-known as a composer as she is known for her fine piano playing. She arrived at jazz via classical music, R&B and salsa. Her music has a particularly broad ethnic base. In addition to European and American classical music, Peggy’s music draws from Brazilian, African, Jewish, Irish, Cuban and traditional jazz influences.
Peggy has worked with such jazz greats as David “Fathead” Newman, Lee Konitz , Bud Shank, Stanley Turrentine, Gerry Mulligan, Eddie Henderson and Diane Schuur to name a few.
6:30PM – COTS Jazz Group
Returning this year a performance at 6:30PM by the jazz group, COTS Jazz Crew, whose
members consist of formerly homeless but talented musicians, who are turning their lives around. COTS Jazz Crew will perform during the pre-concert receptions.
7:15 PM – Trinity Jazz Youth All-Stars
